1948年5月25日，我军攻打隆化城的战斗打响。董存瑞所在连队担负攻击国民党守军防御重点隆化中学的任务。他任爆破组组长，带领战友接连炸毁4座炮楼、5座碉堡，胜利完成了规定的任务。连队随即发起冲锋，突然遭敌一隐蔽的桥型暗堡猛烈火力的封锁。部队受阻于开阔地带，二班、四班接连两次对暗堡爆破均未成功。董存瑞挺身而出，向连长请战：“我是共产党员，请准许我去！”毅然抱起炸药包，冲向暗堡，前进中左腿负伤，顽强坚持冲至桥下。由于桥型暗堡距地面超过身高，两头桥台又无法放置炸药包。危急关头，他毅然决然地用左手托起炸药包，右手拉燃导火索，高喊：“为了新中国，冲啊！”碉堡被炸毁，董存瑞以自己的生命为部队开辟了前进的道路，年仅19岁。

邱少云

邱少云（1926～1952）中国人民志愿军一级英雄，出生于四川铜梁（今重庆铜梁）。1949年12月参加中国人民解放军，1951年赴朝作战。1952年10月，为打击盘踞在上甘岭的美国和南朝鲜军队，被选派参加潜伏部队，并担任了发起冲击后扫除障碍的爆破任务。12日上午，敌机向其所在的潜伏区进行低空扫射，并投掷燃烧弹。飞迸的燃烧液燃遍他全身。为了不暴露潜伏目标，邱少云任凭烈火烧焦身体一动不动。他双手深深地插进泥土里，身体紧紧地贴着地面，直至壮烈牺牲。邱少云牺牲后，被部队党委追认为中共正式党员，中国人民志愿军总部追记特等功，授予“中国人民志愿军一级英雄”称号，朝鲜民主主义共和国最高人民议会常务委员会授予“朝鲜民主主义共和国英雄”称号，同时授予金星勋章、一级国旗勋章。

黄继光

1952年10月14日，上甘岭战役开始。10月19日夜，黄继光所在的二营奉命反击占领597．9高地表面阵地之敌。当攻击部队受阻、伤亡较大时，已任营通讯员的黄继光挺身而出，主动请战，消灭敌人火力点。在战友负伤牺牲、自己所携弹药用光的情况下，黄继光毅然用自己的身躯堵住了敌人枪眼，为冲锋部队的胜利开辟了通路，牺牲时年仅22岁。

黄继光的英雄壮举，获得了抗美援朝战争中的最高荣誉——他被志愿军领导机关追记特等功，并授予“特级英雄”称号（另一特级英雄是杨根思）；所在部队党委追认他为中国共产党正式党员；朝鲜民主主义人民共和国最高人民会议常任委员会追授他“朝鲜民主主义人民共和国英雄”称号和金星奖章、一级国旗勋章。黄继光最后长眠于沈阳市北陵烈士陵园。
